Soil moisture, livestock tracking, and gate-state sensing across rural sites. LoRa-first because LTE coverage disappears at the fence line.
The problem
Farms don’t have LTE coverage. They do have sunlight, batteries, and patience. A producer wanted soil moisture across irrigated fields, gate-state sensors on paddocks, and a way to know if a herd had busted through a fence overnight — without pulling fiber across 200 acres.
What we built
Solar-powered LoRaWAN gateways at the property edge, battery sensor nodes in the fields and on gates, and a custom dashboard showing soil moisture trends, herd locations, and alert history.
The outcome
Irrigation windows tightened based on actual soil data. Fence breaches detected in minutes. No more 3am phone calls from neighbors.
